On June 12, 1903, seven college students met together and “solemnly pledged themselves to help each other with sisterly affection, to stand for the highest musical scholarship, for nobility and uprightness of character and for the maintenance of friendly, unselfish relations among women in the music profession”. From this pledge followed our sisterhood, and we strive to these ideals 119 years later.

ΣAI's Mission: To encourage, nurture, and support the art of music.

 Sigma Alpha Iota

Sigma Alpha Iota is an organization which promotes interaction among those who share a commitment to music. Members of SAI are active in all areas of campus life, working closely with faculty, campus and community groups, music professionals and patrons. In addition to personal encouragement and support, members may receive scholarships, loans and awards in many areas and at all levels of music-related study. Sigma Alpha Iota has long been recognized as a leader in the field of music and provides a lifetime of fraternity contact.

Our Chapter

The Gamma Theta Chapter of Sigma Alpha Iota was founded April 20, 1958 at Georgia Southern University, making it the 1st all women's organization at Georgia Southern University! We have seventeen active sisters, and we are in close contact with the Statesboro Alumnae Chapter. We welcome instrumentalists and vocalists alike to share their passion for the arts in a loving and open space.

We are so proud of our most recent recruitment class of Spring 2023!
